Spectator gates reopen at US Open after rain-related delay

OAKMONT, Pa. (AP) - Golf has resumed at the U.S. Open Friday morning and spectators are now welcome to join the players at Oakmont Country Club.

Stormy weather suspended play in Thursday's opening round and heavy rains overnight have soaked several passageways and parking lots prompting organizers to close spectator gates early Friday.

The gates reopened at 8 a.m., about a half hour after players resumed competition.
