Mom: Indiana boy who died at campground had 'caring heart'
MONTICELLO, Ind. (AP) - Authorities have identified a 10-year-old Indiana boy who died when a tree branch fell on him while camping as Blaike Glassburn of Mishawaka.
The White County Sheriff's Office identified the boy Wednesday. He died Tuesday when the branch fell on his family's tent at Indiana Beach amusement park's campgrounds along Lake Shafer about 30 miles north of Lafayette. A candlelight vigil for the boy is planned Saturday at his school in Mishawaka.
His mother, Del-Marie Hershberger tells the South Bend Tribune (http://bit.ly/1UaVY1t ) her son was "a caring boy with a caring heart" and "big, beautiful smile." She says he was a fan of South Bend Cubs baseball.
His fourth-grade teacher Laura Rudd remembered Blaike having a big smile when he received his spelling award this year.
