Family dog rescued from Elgin fire
A two-story home was severely damaged in a garage fire late Tuesday on Elgin's southwest side, authorities said.
Firefighters were called just before midnight to the home on the 2000 block of Aronomink Circle and found heavy fire coming from the front of the attached garage.
A fire department spokesman said the fire was under control in about 25 minutes.
No one was injured, and the family's dog was rescued.
The home was deemed uninhabitable, and fire officials estimated damages to be about $100,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
