Explore Des Plaines history at the Kinder House
More than 80 third-grade students from North School explored Des Plaines with the Des Plaines History Center staff on May 25 and 26.
The classes broke into groups and participated in a walking tour of downtown Des Plaines led by History Center curator Philip Mohr.
After visiting the 10 sites included in the tour, the children visited the Kinder House, a 1907 house museum at 789 Pearson St., to learn about family life and culture in the early 20th century.
The students then gathered inside the History Center and created a paper quilt.
Teachers are welcome to contact the History Center at (847) 391-5399 to arrange a visit.
The public is invited to tour the Kinder House free from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.
The walking tour app is available online at desplainestour.toursphere.com for all residents to enjoy anytime.• Submit 'Your News' at www.dailyherald.com/share.
