Langer among notables in field of inaugural Champions stop

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman and John Daly, who have each won majors, are among 81 golfers in the field for the inaugural PGA Tour Champions stop in Wisconsin.

The American Family Insurance Championship to be held June 24-26 will be hosted by Madison resident Steve Stricker. He is one of the PGA Tour's most respected veterans.

The event with a $2 million purse at the University Ridge course marks the return of a regular PGA stop in Wisconsin for the first time since a tournament in Milwaukee ended in 2009 following a four-decade run.

Tour organizers said Tuesday that the will include 11 current PGA Tour winners like Woody Austin and Scott McCarron. Stricker himself isn't eligible to compete in his own tournament until he turns 50 next year.
