Missouri company considers $32 million facility in Indiana

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A Missouri development company is considering building a $32 million distribution center near a General Motor plant in northeast Indiana.

Northpoint Development of Kansas City, Missouri, has filed paperwork with Allen County officials saying the plant will create at least 200 jobs paying an average of $30,000 annually and an annual payroll of $6 million. Plans show a 790,000-square-foot building with 80 truck bays and a possible expansion of 230,000 square feet.

A purchase agreement is scheduled to be discussed at the Allen County Redevelopment Commission on Tuesday. A tax abatement proposal that would save the company about $2.85 million in property taxes over 10 years is scheduled to go before the Allen County Council on Thursday.

Construction could begin in July, with completion in May 2017.
