Into the 90s today, Saturday; at least one pool opening early

Sweltering weather could cause some June swoons.

Forecasters predict temperatures to surge into the 90s today and Saturday before dropping back into the high 70s on Sunday, National Weather Service meteorologists said.

In Rolling Meadows, that means Nelson Sports Complex Pool is opening a day early to accommodate those who need to beat the extreme heat.

The pool will be open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. today, and the splash pad will have open free hours from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Regular admission fees apply: $7 per person, with kids 3 and younger admitted free.

The two days of high temperatures will approach records, well out of normal range, this graphic shows.
