Chicago Sky loses guard Laney to season-ending knee injury
After leaving Friday's game on crutches following a noncontact knee injury, Chicago Sky guard Betnijah Laney will miss the remainder of the 2016 WNBA.
Team officials announced Wednesday that Laney has a tear in her left anterior cruciate ligament. The injury occurred during the second quarter of the Sky's 86-78 win over the Washington Mystics on Friday. A second-round draft pick out of Rutgers in 2015, Laney was averaging 1.0 points and 5.3 minutes per game this season with one start.
Chicago opens a four-game road trip on Friday at Indianapolis, followed by games against Phoenix, Los Angeles and Atlanta before returning home to host San Antonio on June 21.
