Pedestrian hit, killed by Metra train in Elgin

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metra train in Elgin on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The person, who has not yet been identified, was hit by an outbound Metra Milwaukee District West Line train around 3 p.m. just west of the Elgin station at Kimball Street, spokeswoman Meg Reilly said.

Trains were moving again within the hour. Afternoon trains have been combined and are making extra stops due to the accident.
