New contract for Grayslake police officers

The Grayslake village board has approved a five-year contract with police officers, who will receive annual raises. Trustees voted 5-0 in favor of the deal Tuesday night, and their ratification followed approval by the Fraternal Order of Police union members. Officers will get a 2 percent pay increase the first year, followed by 2.25 percent, 2.5 percent, 3 percent and 3 percent. Trustee Bruce Bassett said the five-year contract length is a testament to village government's good relationship with the police union.
