Concert series brings music to neighborhood parks

The 2016 Concerts in Your Park series will bring family-friendly music to six Naperville parks throughout the community this summer.

The free concerts begin Sunday, June 12, and the series will continue 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sundays featuring Chicago-area bands in a variety of music styles.

Here's a look at the schedule for this summer:

• June 12: Rockin' Fenderskirts at Central Park, 104 E. Benton Ave.

• June 26: Wild Daisy at Timber Creek, 3323 Timber Creek Lane

• July 10: Five Guys Named Moe at Gartner Park, 524 W. Gartner Road

• July 17: Spoken Four at A. George Pradel Park, 4519 Pradel Drive

• July 24: 1976 at Meadow Glens, 1303 Muirhead Ave.

• July 31: Swing Forward at Rotary Hill, 443 Aurora Ave.

The audience is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy an evening of musical entertainment.

Concertgoers may bring their own food and beverages or may buy food from a variety of food trucks that may be on-site for some or all of the concerts.

Aurelio's Pizza, OMango, Kona Ice, TCBY, Thatsanice and Big Poppa Dogs are the 2016 food truck vendors for the Naperville Park District's special events and athletic programs.

The concerts are sponsored by Continental Motors of Naperville.

"Continental Motors of Naperville is excited about sharing a Sunday evening with our Naperville neighbors and this year's concert lineup," said Sabrina Erskine, director of e-commerce and marketing for Continental Motors of Naperville.

"We continue to enjoy and appreciate our partnership with the Naperville Park District. Be sure to stop by our tent for a complimentary gift."

Earlier this year, the locations of the concerts were selected by participants in an online contest called "Your Concert, Your Park, Your Choice." Interested residents cast more than 700 votes for preferred locations and styles of music for the summer concert series.
