US goes with same starters for 2nd Copa America game
CHICAGO (AP) - U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann is using the same starters for the national team's second game in Copa America.
The United States lost 2-0 to Colombia in its Copa opener on Friday night, but Klinsmann felt the team played well and decided to stay with the same group on Tuesday night against Costa Rica on Soldier Field.
Brad Guzan got his sixth straight start in goal after beating out 2014 World Cup star Tim Howard for the starting job. Geoff Cameron, John Brooks, DeAndre Yedlin and Fabian Johnson were the starting defenders.
Captain Michael Bradley, Alejandro Bedoya, Jermaine Jones, Clint Dempsey, Gyasi Zardes and Bobby Wood rounded out the starting lineup.
Patrick Pemberton got the start in goal for Costa Rica with Keylor Navas sidelined for the tournament because of an injury. Defender Francisco Calvo and midfielder Christian Bolanos also got the start after Kendall Waston got a red card in the Ticos' scoreless draw with Paraguay on Saturday night and Yeltsin Tejeda got a yellow card.
