Last week: Anna Nordqvist won the ShopRite LPGA Classic for the second straight year.

Notes: Inbee Park will try to become the first player to win an LPGA major four straight years. She also needs to complete only one round to make official her 10th season and become eligible for the LPGA Hall of Fame. Park has withdrawn after the first round of her last two events because of a thumb injury. ... The tournament began as the LPGA Championship in 1955, making it the second-oldest major behind the U.S. Women's Open. ... The strongest field in LPGA history is expected to play, with the top 100 from the LPGA money list. ... Sahalee hosted the 1998 PGA Championship won by Vijay Singh, and a 2002 World Golf Championship won by Craig Parry. ... Ariya Jutanugarn will try to become the first LPGA player with four straight victories since Lorena Ochoa in 2008. ... Lydia Ko will be going after her third straight major. She won the Evian Championship in France at the end of last year, and the ANA Inspiration in April.

Last week: William McGirt won the Memorial for his first PGA Tour victory.

Notes: The top 60 in the world after the FedEx St. Jude Classic will get into the U.S. Open if not already exempt. ... Fabian Gomez has won twice in the last 12 months, at the St. Jude Classic and the Sony Open, and still is not exempt for the U.S. Open. ... Dustin Johnson (No. 6) is the only player from the top 10 in the world ranking in the field. Johnson won in 2012. ... Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els also are in the field. ... Kyle Reifers has not missed a tournament for which he is eligible since the Northern Trust Open at Riviera on Feb. 21. He said workers are trying to remove mold from his house in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he would have to stay in a hotel if he went home. ... Carlos Ortiz of Mexico has missed the cut in eight of his last nine events and has fallen out of the top 60 in the Olympic ranking with one month to go before qualifying ends. He at least qualified for the U.S. Open on Monday ... Lee McCoy, who tied for fourth at the Valspar Championship, makes his pro debut after graduating Georgia. Also playing as a pro for the first time are Robby Shelton of Alabama and Matt NeSmith of South Carolina.

Last week: Scott McCarron won the Principal Charity Classic for his first PGA Tour Champions victory.

Notes: Philadelphia Cricket Club is the only club in America to have opened a golf course in each of the last three centuries. The St. Martin's course built in 1897 hosted the U.S. Open in 1907 and 1910. It since has been reconfigured to nine holes. The Wissahickon Course was designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1922. A third course (Militia Hill) was added in 2002. ... The winner is exempt into The Players Championship next year. ... Bernhard Langer will try to win for the third straight time. The only other player with that chance was Arnold Palmer in 1986, but he finished four shots behind. ... The tournament moves to Caves Valley next year.

Notes: Chris Wood, coming off a victory in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, plans to defend his title before going to Oakmont for the U.S. Open. ... The top 60 in the world after the tournament will be exempt into the U.S. Open. Among those playing who still aren't in the U.S. Open is Joost Luiten at No. 69. ... Wood and Bernd Wiesberger of Austria are among seven players in the field who will fly over to Pittsburgh next week for the U.S. Open. ... Wiesberger missed the cut last year for the first time in his national Open. He won it in 2012. ... The tournament began in 1990 and was won by Bernhard Langer. ... This is the first of five straight national opens on the European Tour schedule - Austria, United States, Germany, France, Scotland. It's followed by The Open Championship.
