Stamp dedication set at Chicago's Pullman National Monument

CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Post Office is helping to celebrate the centennial of the National Park Service with the dedication of a new stamp sheet.

A ceremony for the National Parks "Forever" stamps will be held Wednesday at the Pullman National Monument visitor information center on Chicago's South Side. The Pullman National Monument was designated last year as the 406th National Park Service site and the first in Chicago.

Chicago Postmaster Tangela Bush will be joined Wednesday by officials from the National Park Service, the National Pullman Foundation and Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives.

The Pullman site includes houses and buildings associated with the Pullman Palace Car Co., one of the largest employers of blacks in the United States by the early 1900s.

The National Parks stamps were issued June 2 in New York.
