Auburn gives Gus Malzahn one-year extension through 2020

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn coach Gus Malzahn has received a one-year contract extension through December 31, 2020.

Malzahn's salary, buyout and bonuses remain the same under the amended agreement signed on April 1. Auburn released the details of the extension on Monday.

He's set to make $4.725 million a year but is coming off two disappointing seasons. Malzahn led the Tigers to the Southeastern Conference championship and the national title game in 2013, his first season.

Auburn went 8-5 the following season and had a disappointing 2015 after coming in regarded as the preseason favorite. The Tigers went 7-6 and won only two SEC games while quarterbacks Jeremy Johnson and Sean White both struggled running his up tempo offense.

They're 6-10 in the league the past two seasons.
