Nurses Club Scholarship Winners

The Arlington Heights Nurses Club introduced its 2016-2017 scholarship winners to members at their May meeting. Nine outstanding nursing students were honored to receive scholarships to help fund their nursing education.

The Scholarship Committee of the Nurses Club was genuinely impressed by the qualifications of the following nine nursing students who each received a scholarship of $1,250.

Eight awardees are currently students in baccalaureate programs. They include Kelsey O'Brien from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Megan Mueller from Marquette University, Vanessa Parise from St. Louis University, Alena Neuswanger from Illinois Wesleyan University, Christine Wemberly From Loyola University of Chicago. Emily Moody, Lindsey Rodriguez, and Kyle Petro are all from Chamberlain College of Nursing. Our final winner is Sheila Whiteside, a graduate student at Benedictine University working on her MSN in Nursing leadership.

The Arlington Heights Nurses Club has served the Arlington Heights Community since 1938. It offers a Lending Closet, free to residents of Arlington Heights, which provides durable medical equipment such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, crutches, and bathing equipment.

Housed in the Arlington Heights Senior Center, 1801 W. Central Road, Arlington Heights, the Lending Closet is open 10 a.m. -noon Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; noon - 3 p.m. Mondays; and 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays. For details call the Lending Closet at (847) 797-5315. Donations are always appreciated to help keep this volunteer operation going.

Scholarship assistance to local nursing students and registered nurses who wish to further their nursing education continues to be a top priority for the club. The mission of the Arlington Heights Nurses Club includes dedication to philanthropy, education, and community service.
