Not really interested in tax fairness
State Rep. Christian Mitchell's proposed progressive state income tax is a much more fair tax and also provides a path to help reduce the illinois deficit.
Thirty-three states already use the progressive income tax to require the wealthy to pay more because they are the the ones benefitting from an economy already loaded with loopholes and other advantages.
Another way to raise revenue would be a small transaction tax on electronic stock trades. A fraction of a cent wouldn't be a major blow and could generate millions.
But, our governor is interested in eliminating unions and privatizing government jobs while the state slides further in debt.
I guess billionaires aren't concerned about tax fairness or solving the real revenue issues.
