SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann started eight veterans from the 2014 World Cup in the Copa America opener against Colombia, using the same group that played the initial 13 minutes of the second half during last weekend's exhibition win over Bolivia.
Geoff Cameron made a second straight start in central defense Friday night alongside John Brooks, with DeAndre Yedlin at right back and Fabian Johnson at left back.
Brad Guzan earned his fifth straight start in goal after beating out 2014 World Cup star Tim Howard for the starting job.
Captain Michael Bradley was in defensive midfield. Alejandro Bedoya, whose father is from Colombia, was more advanced in the 4-3-3 formation along with Jermaine Jones.
Clint Dempsey was at the top of the attack, again flanked by Gyasi Zardes and Bobby Wood.
All appeared in the 2014 World Cup except Guzan, Zardes and Wood.
