Murder charge filed in woman's death on Lake Shore Drive

CHICAGO (AP) - Prosecutors in Chicago say murder charges have been filed in the death of a woman who was struck by a vehicle on Lake Shore Drive while fleeing robbers.

The Cook County State's Attorney's office on Friday told the Chicago Tribune (http://trib.in/2897pQJ) 28-year-old Semaj Waters is charged with murder in the death of 32-year-old Pamela Johnson. Johnson died Sunday when a group of men started chasing her and her boyfriend while they walked Sunday night.

Police say one of the men chasing the couple had a gun. Johnson was struck by a white pickup truck when she fled across the busy roadway.

The state's attorney's office says the case remains an ongoing investigation. No one else has been charged. Waters did not have a listed home phone number to seek comment.
