Leeds hires Monk, Coyle back in English soccer at Blackburn

LONDON (AP) - Former Premier League managers Garry Monk and Owen Coyle are back in work in the second tier of English soccer.

Monk, who was fired by Swansea in December, was appointed as the seventh Leeds manager in three years on Thursday. The northern English team, which won the 1992 championship, has been out of the top division since 2004.

Coyle, who managed Burnley and Bolton in the Premier League, is taking charge at Blackburn - a third club in the Lancashire region. Blackburn was relegated from the top division in 2012.

Coyle left the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer League last week.
