Day care worker gets 27 years for child porn of 4-year-old

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis man accused of fondling a girl at a day care has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after being convicted of a related child pornography charge.

U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Walton Pratt sentenced 22-year-old Ali Al-Awadi on Thursday and ordered him to pay $9,000 in restitution, register as a sex offender and undergo treatment for sexual disorders.

Al-Awadi told the judge he was a God-fearing man and asked for forgiveness.

Prosecutors say Al-Awadi, while working at Children's Choice Learning Center at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, molested a 4-year old girl while she napped and took sexually explicit photos of her on his cell phone. She testified at trial that he fondled her and hurt her.

A state charge of child molesting remains pending against Al-Awadi.
