Bloomington man charged in connection with daughter's death

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Police say a Bloomington man faces preliminary charges of battery and neglect of a dependent resulting in death after his 2-year-old daughter died of an apparent fractured skull.

Bloomington police say 33-year-old Robierre McNeil was arrested Wednesday night and is being held in the Monroe County Jail on $100,000 bond.

They say he reported the girl unresponsive Sunday afternoon after he had been caring for all day while her mother was working. She was pronounced dead at a hospital. An autopsy is planned.

Police say McNeil denied knowing how the child was injured.

It wasn't clear whether McNeil has an attorney who might comment on the case.

Police didn't release the girl's name.
