Cahokia wins 6th consecutive Illinois boys' Track title

CHARLESTON (AP) - The Cahokia Comanches have won a record sixth consecutive Illinois Class 2A boys' Track and Field title despite the absence of last year's champion in both the long and triple jumps.

New Berlin won its first ever Class 1A title Saturday at O'Brien Stadium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. The Pretzels won the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays, as well as the 400 meter dash.

East St. Louis took the Class 3A crown with 54 points, dethroning Edwardsville by taking both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 meter relays.

Highlighting the meet was a 2016 national best time by the Orland Park (Sandburg) 4 x 800 relay team, which blistered the field in a time of 7:37:36.
