Northern Illinois man accused of possessing pipe bombs

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) - A northern Illinois man faces a felony charge after police say they found two suspected pipe bombs in his bedroom.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/25c7CQH ) reports that 28-year-old Michael Suopys of Lindenhurst is charged with possessing bombs containing an explosive substance.

A news release from the Lake County state's attorney's office says authorities launched an investigation Thursday after they received a tip suggesting Suopys may have been making online purchases to construct a weapon.

The news release says Suopys was arrested Friday after authorities searched his home and found the two suspected pipe bombs, as well as lab equipment, various pipes and a highly flammable material.

It wasn't immediately known if Suopys has an attorney.

He's being held on $1 million bail.
