Hoffman Estates home uninhabitable after fire

A fire in the rear of a one-story home in the 100 block of Princeton Street in Hoffman Estates left the dwelling uninhabitable, fire officials said in a news release. The fire was reported about 1:46 p.m. Thursday and was out by 2:04 p.m. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The loss was estimated at $30,000. Six other departments provided aid at the scene and backup at stations.
