Bartlett house fire causes $250,000 in damage

A Bartlett house fire that officials believe started near an exterior light fixture at the rear of the house caused $250,000 in damage Thursday night, according to the Bartlett Fire Protection District.

Residents on the 30W300 block of Forsythia Lane were alerted to the fire when they heard crackling coming from the back of the house. All occupants and a dog got out safely before firefighters arrived at 11:30 p.m. The blaze was under control by 11:47 p.m.

Fire damage was contained to an exterior rear wall, a bathroom and the attic, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
