Round Lake Beach man held on child pornography charges

A Round Lake Beach man is being held in Lake County jail on $100,000 bail after authorities discovered pornographic images of children on his computer, officials said Thursday.

John B. Cady, 54, of the 1600 block of Elm Avenue, faces six counts of possession of child pornography, authorities said. Each count of child pornography carries a possible prison term of 3 to 7 years.

Cady was charged after a search warrant was served at his address by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Cybercrimes Unit Wednesday. The Lake County State's Attorney's Cybercrimes Unit was also involved in the investigation, authorities said.

Items seized from the residence included electronic devices that contained several videos identified as child pornography, which included children under the age of 13, authorities said.

The case remains under investigation.

Cady is due back in court May 23.
