Death of Indianapolis student at trash bin ruled homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The death of high school student found unresponsive behind a trash bin on Indianapolis' east side has been ruled a homicide.

The Marion County Coroner's Office issued the ruling Thursday in the March 21 death of 18-year-old Renia Woods. However, it did not issue a cause of death.

Police said Woods was babysitting her younger siblings when she stepped outside and never returned. After a man collecting trash found her unresponsive, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Woods was a senior at Ben Davis High School on the city's far west side.
