Rosary Catholic awards 84 women diplomas

Eighty-four young women received diplomas Wednesday night from Rosary Catholic High School of Aurora.

Attending a four-year college is the next step for 72 of them, according to the school's principal, Sister Ann Brummel. 11 will attend a two-year college, and one will spend a year doing international volunteer work.

Ninety percent of the graduates were awarded scholarships, valued at $14.4 million total.

At the graduation ceremony at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in St. Charles, attendees were addressed by valedictorian Grace Wehner of Oswego, and student Victoria Pyle of Sugar Grove.

The class' 75 Catholic students came from 21 parishes, in Darien, Aurora, Naperville, Yorkville, Geneva, Oswego, Batavia, Elburn, St. Charles. Sugar Grove, Winfield, Plainfield, Sycamore and West Chicago. The remaining students attended churches of other denominations, or practice another faith.
