2 accused of not reporting sexual abuse agree to diversion

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Two Indianapolis Public Schools officials charged with not immediately notifying authorities of sexual abuse allegations against a former counselor have agreed to enter pretrial diversion programs.

The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/24XsOty ) the agreement Tuesday means the misdemeanor counts against human resources director Lela "Tina" Hester and human resources case manager Shalon Dabney will be dismissed if they aren't charged with another offense within six months.

Marion County prosecutors had alleged the two had evidence Shana Taylor had sex with a teenager in her office but waited six days to report it. Taylor was charged in March with nine felony counts of child seduction and other charges.

The two were suspended with pay after being charged. The district issued a statement Tuesday saying officials would comment when the issue is resolved.
