Pedestrian killed by Metra train in Palatine

One person is dead after being hit by Metra train in Palatine Friday night.

A Union Pacific Northwest Line Metra train hit a pedestrian near Hicks Road in Palatine around 9:30 p.m., said Spokesman Michael Gilles.

Gilles said he did not know more about the circumstances around the accident and Palatine police were not yet releasing information on Saturday afternoon.

Trains were delayed for a bit while police investigated the fatality, but were running without delays on Saturday.
