Police blame accidental shooting for central Indiana death

LEBANON, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a 49-year-old man accidentally killed himself while target shooting on his rural property in central Indiana.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says deputies found Lester Wethington face down after they were called Thursday to the site near Lebanon. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The department says investigators believe Wethington went out to target shoot in his backyard when he apparently tripped and the weapon fired a round that killed him. Investigators say the shooting appears accidental.
