Baseball: NSC Prairie title to Wauconda

Jake Grobelny went 3-for-3 with a triple, Trevor Sefcik homered, doubled and drove in 3 runs, and Wauconda's baseball team clinched the North Suburban Conference Prairie Division championship with a 12-2 win over Round Lake on Thursday.

Sefcik and Jacob Bicknase (2 RBI) both were 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs, who are 10-0 in the NSC Prairie and have two games with Antioch next week.

Mike Turzynski added a single and 3 RBI for Wauconda, and Drake Berman pitched a five-inning complete game with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Lakes 12, Grant 3: The host Eagles avenged Wednesday's loss to complete North Suburban Prairie play with a 6-6 record.

Ben Milewski (2-5) pitched 5 innings for the win, striking out six, walking three and allowing 3 runs. He also helped himself at the plate by going 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored. Jack Christensen (3 RBI, run) and Matt Milewski (double, 2 RBI, 2 runs) were both 2-for-3 for Lakes (11-14). Tom Jones was 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and run.

For Grant (16-12, 4-6), James Pendley was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Ricky Allen went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Grayslake Central 9, Dundee-Crown 6: Memphis-signee Sam Nozicka slugged 3 hits and had 3 RBI in leading the host Rams to a come-from-behind win in Fox Valley Conference action.

The Rams had 11 hits, as Ben Fitzgerald and Benton Troehler both doubled and singled. Justin Shepley added a double and Ryan Mikes added 2 singles.

Ryan Casper (2 innings), sophomore Ray Bradley (3 innings) and Griffin Edwards (2 innings) shared mound duties for GC, as the Rams won their 14th game on the season and fifth in their last six games.

The visiting Chargers jumped on GC early for 3 runs in the top of the first. The Rams responded with 3 of their own in their half inning and then added another three in the second inning with a key 2-RBI single by Sam Ruhlmann.

Libertyville 8, Zion-Benton 1: The Wildcats received 3 hits apiece from Brian Murphy (2 doubles), Daniel Marks and Colin Fields (3 RBI) in improving to 7-3 in the North Suburban Lake.

Tim Calamari homered and drove in a pair of runs for Libertyville.

Lake Forest 7, Warren 0: The Scouts beat the Blue Devils for the second day in a row to improve to 7-3 in the North Suburban Lake.

Lake Forest's Matt Peterson pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts. Tanner Dyer (double, 2-for-3) and Matt Burch (2-for-2) had the only hits for Warren.

Stevenson 10, York 0: Jack Trotter (triple, 2 RBI) and Patrick Loeffler both were 2-for-3 for the Patriots in their nonconference win.

Dylan Molek tripled as well for Stevenson.

Hersey 20, Antioch 14: J.R. Johnson and Ben Gutke (double, 2 RBI) were both 3-for-4 for the Sequoits in their nonconference slugfest.

John Neville homered and drove in 3 runs for Antioch. Jake Emer was 2-for-3, and Alex Unekis had a double.
