Driver legally drunk in fatal southeastern Indiana crash

VERSAILLES, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State Police say a Cincinnati man was legally intoxicated when he drove into the path of a semitrailer, killing himself and two passengers.

Police said Wednesday that toxicology results on 31-year-old Andre N. Devant show he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent, or more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent, and he also tested positive for marijuana.

Also killed in the April 5 crash was 31-year-old Margaret A. Guinn and her 3-year-old daughter, Aaliyah Guinn. Police say Margaret Guinn had a blood-alcohol level of 0.22 percent.

Police say Devant was traveling on a Ripley County road approaching U.S. 50 about 40 miles west of Cincinnati when he failed to stop at a stop sign and turned into the path of the semitrailer.
