Moon Art Gallery Celebrates Second Anniversary
Moon Art Gallery, 15 E. Miner St. in downtown Arlington Heights is celebrating its second anniversary with a day of art, live music, and refreshments on Saturday, May 14 from noon to 5:00.
Local artist Shawn Denman will be on hand to exhibit and play his one-of-a-kind guitars created from cigar boxes, solid wood, and various artistic treasures. He creates everything from the one-string Diddley Bow to the traditional six string guitar in his Northwest suburban studio.
Adding to the festive nature of the event, Revolution Brewing Company will be joining in the celebration and supplying samples of their locally brewed craft beers, while supplies last. All are invited to this special event of art, music and beer.
Back in 2014, gallery owners Dan and Keith Mooney wanted to place more emphasis on the incredible work being done by local painters, photographers and sculptors in their home town.
"We emphasize home-grown talent," said Keith Mooney. "Why go to Chicago to see unique, amazing work when it's right here in your back yard?"
To further underscore this sentiment local artists Keith Mooney, Patty Colabuono, Bill Doree, Cathy Kapica, Norm Plummer and Walter Hoffman joined forces in January of this year to become an artist cooperative. Photography and mixed media pieces by the artists are available as well as items such as jewelry, pottery, note cards, and quilting.
