Czech broadcaster gets '18-'20 Olympic rights from Discovery

LONDON (AP) - The Czech Republic's public broadcaster will sub-license the rights to the 2018 and 2020 Olympics from Discovery Communications.

The deal, announced Monday, covers the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The games will be available to Czech viewers on both Ceska Televize and Discovery-owned Eurosport.

It's Discovery's fourth sub-licensing deal after agreements with the BBC in Britain, NOS in the Netherlands and YLE in Finland.

Discovery, the U.S.-based media giant, secured the European rights last year across 50 countries for four Olympics from 2018 to 2024 in a deal worth 1.3 billion euros ($1.45 billion).
