Boys water polo: Sectional victories for Schaumburg, Elk Grove, Buffalo Grove

In Fremd boys water polo sectional action Monday, Schaumburg advanced with a 13-8 victory over Hersey.

The Saxons got 4 goals from both Michael Burke and Matt Soltau and 3 from Tyler Gustafson.

Hersey was led by James Lawrence and R.J. Quinn with 3 goals apiece.

Schaumburg (6-20) faces top seed Fremd in the quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

• Adam Doruff scored 5 goals with David Dragne contributing 2 to help Elk Grove past Hoffman Estates 13-14. The seventh-seeded Grenadiers (9-15) will meet No. 2 seed Barrington in Wednesday's quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

• In the Buffalo Grove sectional, Buffalo Grove earned a spot in the quarterfinals by topping Highland Park 12-4 behind 2 goals from Ryan Lawson, Billy Wade and Kacper Aniecko. The sixth-seeded Bison (17-14) next fact No. 3 Wheeling at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
