Lake County forest district helps reintroduce native plants
The Lake County Forest Preserve District did its part this weekend to sustain Northern Illinois' natural history with its annual Native Plant Sale at Independence Grove's North Bay Pavilion near Libertyville.
The sale included a variety of plants, shrubs and trees natural to the local environment that are suitable for residents to put in their yards. According to the forest preserve, the native plants are hardy, less expensive, easy to maintain and beneficial to the environment.
Proceeds from the sale benefit the forest preserve's Nature Education programs.
