Ellenwood's three-peat tops Ultimate gym year

Jillian Ellenwood is celebrating after claiming her third all-around State title in as many years. Jillian, who competes for Ultimate Gymnastics of Gurnee, placed first in this year's Level 5 State meet in the Child B age group. Last year she took top honors at Level 4 and the year before that at Level 3.

Jillian's impressive achievement was a highlight of another great competitive season for the Gurnee-based gymnastics club. Also at level 5 Chloe Byrne continued her success at the State level with a gold medal on beam, scoring 9.70. She also placed second on vault, bars and in the all-around in the Child D age group. Meanwhile in the Senior B age group, Lindsay Fontana took the floor title and placed third on both vault and in the all-around. Madison Miks (Junior D) placed second and Sarah Arends (Child B) was third, both on floor exercise.

As a team, top honors for the season went to the Level 6 girls. The Senior portion of the team took first place at State and the Combined team placed second. Kayleigh Glickley had an outstanding State meet claiming four out of a possible five gold medals. Her scores included 9.80s on both vault and floor, 9.775 on beam and 38.475 in the all-around in the Senior C age group. In the Senior D session Carlyn Berke also took all-around gold (38.30), placing first on vault (9.725) and on floor (9.60). Meanwhile in the Senior E age group Jordan-Ann Scott was first on vault and third on beam. Other Level 6 medals included silver on vault for Madeline Medica (Senior D), bronze on vault for Claire Kauppila (Senior B) and silver on beam and bronze on bars and in the all-around for Ana Raquel (Junior E).

Level 7 - There was State gold for Olivia Roebuck on floor (9.75) in the Senior C age group and for Lea Alatzakis (9.80) on vault in the Senior E session. Olivia was also third on beam while Lea was runner up on uneven bars. Jenna Ritzert (Senior D) placed second on bars, beam and in the all-around while Ashley Derrick (Junior C) was second on floor and Hannah McCue (Senior D) was runner-up on vault.

Level 8 - Lyndsey Basara (Junior E) took silver on floor exercise

Level 10 - Michigan State bound Ally Hoyer (Senior C) took bronze medals on both vault and floor. Carrie Grumhaus (Senior C) was fourth on vault.

Level 4 - Emily Chabraja (Senior C) placed second and Mackenzie Liebau (Youth A) placed third, both on bars.

Level 3 - There were top five finishes for Angelina Appelbaum (Child D) on bars and for Ava Fendel (Child E) and Chloe Sim (Youth C) on vault.

Level 9 - Sylvia Raquel (Junior C) was fourth on vault and Laken Ritzert (Senior B) was fifth on floor.
