Colorado holds top spot in West with 1-0 win over RSL

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - Jermaine Jones scored in the 47th minute and the Colorado Rapids beat Real Salt Lake 1-0 on Saturday night in the Rocky Mountain Cup.

Colorado (6-2-2) moved atop the Western Conference standings and extended its unbeaten streak to five games. The Rapids' last loss came in a 1-0 defeat at Real Salt Lake on April 9.

Kevin Doyle drew three defenders in the box and found Jones trailing the play. Jones used the outside of his foot to squeeze a shot inside the far post.

Jones has three goals and two assists in four games with Colorado after being traded from the New England Revolution during the offseason.

The Rapids have won the opening five home games of a season for the first time since 2003. Real Salt Lake (5-2-2) has lost two of its last three games.

Nick Rimando kept it 1-0 in the 51st minute with a kick save of Bobby Burling's close-range shot.
