Man shot on I-55 near Berwyn

A 22-year-old man was shot Saturday morning on the Stevenson Expressway near Berwyn, officials said.

He was driving in the southbound lanes just north of Central Avenue around 6 a.m. when a silver Volkswagen pulled up next to his car and someone started shooting at him, according to Illinois State Police.

The man was shot four times in his lower extremities, police said, and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The Volkswagen exited I-55 at Central heading south, police said.
