Badminton: Stevenson wins Glenbrook South sectional

Stevenson's badminton team roared to the team championship of the Glenbrook South sectional on Friday while advancing all four of its entrants to next week's state tournament.

The Patriots finished with 17 points, well ahead of runner-up Glenbrook North (11) and third-place finisher Glenbrook South (10.5).

Stevenson junior Ashley Richardson topped Glenbrook North's Jiayi Huang for the singles title, and Pats junior DaMin Paik defeated Glenbrook South's Nina Tojo for third place.

In doubles, Stevenson took the top two places as junior May Ling and senior Sarah Hou defeated their teammates, senior Kelsey Huang and sophomore Shirley Cao, 21-19, 21-13 in the title match.
