Learn about 'The City in a Garden' June 24

At 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, the Elgin Garden Club and Gail Borden Public Library are sponsoring a lecture by Chicago historian Julia Sniderman Bachrach, featuring her book "The City in a Garden."

Bachrach will share the history of Chicago's parks.

The garden club is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and this is the first in a series of three lectures available to the public.

The program, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.
