Northern Indiana remains IDed as those of missing woman

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) - Remains found in a northern Indiana field have been identified as those of an Elkhart woman who went missing in 2014.

Elkhart police say dental records were used to identify the skeletal remains discovered Tuesday near Bristol as those of Anastacia Cortes Reyes. The 39-year-old woman was reported missing Aug. 28, 2014, and police later found her van heavily damaged by fire.

An autopsy will not be conducted, but anthropologists and the Elkhart County Coroner's Office will examine the remains in detail to try to determine a cause of death.

Reyes-Cortes was married with two young daughters.

Bristol is about 25 miles east of South Bend.
