Police say St. Charles man shot at wife

A husband shot at his wife Tuesday night as she was fleeing their St. Charles house after a domestic battery, police said.

The woman was not struck by gunfire, and a passer-by tackled the man and held him until police arrived, according to a news release.

Police responded to the scene on the 400 block of Hunt Club Drive at 6:26 p.m. after receiving a report of shots fired. Police said there is no active danger to the public; it appeared to be an isolated incident.

Evidence technicians remained on scene Tuesday night to process evidence. The gun used has been recovered, authorities said.
