Moms invited to wildflower walk with Citizens for Conservation

Start your Mother's Day weekend with a walk through the spring wildflowers at Baker's Lake in Barrington.

Citizens for Conservation's Youth Education Committee invites children, mothers and grandmothers to a Mother's Day wildflower walk from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 7, at Baker's Lake. Walkers will learn more about the native species in the savanna and will get a chance to observe the nesting platforms on the lake's island. (Bring binoculars if you have them.) Youngsters will also receive native flower plants to give for Mother's Day.

The class is open to children ages 5 and older - and dads are invited, too. CFC members are free; nonmembers pay $5 for the first child and $1 for each additional child.

Meet at the Baker's Lake parking lot on Highland Avenue, south of Hillside Avenue in Barrington.

For information or to RSVP, call (847) 382-7283.
