Bobcat Blitz 5K/One Mile Race Health, Wellness and Family Fest Saturday, May 14 at 9:00 a.m.

Registration for Immanuel Lutheran's third annual "Bobcat Blitz" 5K and One Mile Walk is now open. Runners and walkers alike are invited to participate in the Blitz to be held on Saturday, May 14, and everyone is invited to the Health, Wellness and Family Fest running concurrently in Immanuel's parking lot.

The Blitz has chip timing and both the 5K and the one mile walk will start at 9 a.m. The Blitz offers participants a chance to have fun and compete in a community event and gives the community a chance to gather.

Both races are out and back style on a fast and flat course and run through the quiet and scenic neighborhood streets of downtown Palatine. The 5K course will offer a water station at the halfway point and there will be plenty of food and refreshments following the races for all participants. The top three overall winners of the 5K will receive a prize in addition to a medal. The top three age group winners will be awarded custom Bobcat Blitz medals.

Please visit the website at www.immanuelpalatine.org/5k for prize details.

Participants are encouraged to stay post-race as well for music from DJ "Rick's Mix," games, the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs, health and wellness information booths, games for the kids and other activities.

"Gold Sponsors" include BMO Harris Bank, Dr. Gerry Aylward, Dick Pond Athletics Specialty Running store, Tom Morrison, Barrington Orthopedic Specialists, the Mighty Seneca Tribe of the Indian Guides/Indian Princesses, TJ Stearns Financial Planning and Benefits, the soon-to-open Batting Benny's (Baseball, softball, and cricket indoor batting cages and training facility) and more.

"Please join us for our third Bobcat Blitz 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk. This is going to be a great event with a great cause." says Jean Link, one of the race's organizers and a dedicated runner, who most recently competed in the Chicago Marathon and completed her first full Ironman triathlon in Cozumel last November. "We are tremendously thankful to all of our past Blitz participants. Thanks to your generous donations and support we have been able to help our community in ways that we never imagined possible. It is our hope that we can continue this tradition and everyone considers joining us again for our third year of racing and fellowship. All proceeds will directly benefit community outreach initiatives such as the Good Samaritan Food Pantry and Kids Hope USA."
