Mount Prospect Art Studio colors world for kids

There's art for all ages this summer at the Mount Prospect Park District Art Studio, located at 1326 W. Central Road at Melas Park in Mount Prospect.

There's an array of new classes from a talented studio staff that searches current trends and pop culture to find fun and fascinating ways to make art come alive.

With more than 35 offerings from single-day adventures to weeklong art camps, the creative possibilities are endless.

One new class, Emoji Expressions, ages 8 to 15, promises to bring your favorite emojis to life on canvas. And young artists, ages 4-8, will enjoy Swimming with Dory as Dory and Nemo return to movie theaters this summer. Projects include making decorated pool bags and tie-dye T-shirts.

For tie-ins to other theater blockbusters, head to the Studio for the SuperHero Cartooning Camp and Star Wars Art for ages 7-14. Darth Vader, Yoda, Han Solo, Rey and the Millennium Falcon will creatively transport you out of this galaxy.

Travel the "artistic" globe with Polynesian Paradise, age 7 -11, Let's Go Fly a Kite, all ages, and studio favorites including No. 1 Dad, Mind your Own Business, Art Start Camp, Junior Fashion Design, Fairy Garden and Step-by-Step Drawing.

Planning on a summer of lazy, hazy days with no set schedule? No problem. The Studio Paint Pass Program offers a full season of listed days and times to drop in and get your color on! A five visit, two-hour paint pass, where you choose the dates and times, is six visits this year in honor of the program's 10th anniversary. That's 12 hours of painting fun for $80.

And the Art Studio is a great place to hold a birthday party, with custom choice of theme, projects, party colors and décor. There are great choices for both boys and girls with start-to-finish instruction provided.
