Illinois village president pleads not guilty to felonies

HEBRON, Ill. (AP) - The president of a small village in Illinois has pleaded not guilty to felony drug possession and firearms charges.

Hebron Village President John Jacobson was arraigned Tuesday before McHenry County Judge Michael Feetterer and entered the pleas. The (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1NTfxsb ) that the 68-year-old is next due in court June 7.

Authorities say they found cocaine and drug paraphernalia at Jacobson's home during a March search after Jacobson was found unconscious. Courts documents show authorities found ammunition and make-shift crack pipes.

During an April village board meeting Jacobson said he didn't plan to resign and asked the crowd to respect his privacy during the legal process.

Jacobson had a different drug-related felony charge pending before he was elected in 2013. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor.
