Dist. 304 to host public forum on city of Geneva TIF District

The Geneva Unit District 304 board of education invites the community to a public forum to learn more about the school district's opposition to the city of Geneva's proposed Tax Increment Financing District 3 at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Geneva Middle School North, 1357 Viking Drive.

Presenters will discuss how the proposed TIF district could affect Geneva schools as well as local property taxpayers in Geneva and the Mill Creek subdivision. Additionally, the district's attorney and TIF consultant will demonstrate evidence that the eligibility study the city used to justify the TIF district is flawed.

The board of education hopes the public will attend to learn more about this important and complicated issue. The city of Geneva plans to vote on TIF District 3 at a public hearing on May 16. The school district hopes this vote will be delayed until the city and other taxing bodies have an opportunity to work together on an economic development solution.
